The Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre says they have to temporarily pause emergency food hamper service after the Saskatchewan Health Authority declared an outbreak at the food bank. Three of their staff have been diagnosed with COVID-19. These are not the three individuals who contracted COVID-19 last November which also led to an outbreak being declared at the Food Bank at that time.
The organization says it has taken safety measures including increased cleaning protocols and widespread staff testing. It means there will be a temporarily pause to emergency food hamper services and there is no word on when emergency food hamper services will resume.
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools says the Saskatchewan Health Authority has detected a positive COVID-19 case in an individual at each of École St. Gerard School and St. Joseph High School. Risk of exposure for anyone not considered a close contact remains low. The affected classes/cohorts will switch to online instruction.
A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Caswell School. A news releases from Saskatoon Public Schools says to date, they have been notified of one positive case of the virus in the school, which was identified last Wednesday.
One classroom is closed due to an isolation order, otherwise classes at the school continue as scheduled. Since the beginning of the school year, Saskatoon Public Schools has had 201 positive cases at 48 schools and at the board office.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the City of Saskatoon Water and Sewer Maintenance work group. The physical location is 88 King Street which the city says is accessible only by employees.
An outbreak is declared by the SHA when two or more people test positive for COVID-19 and are all linked to a specific non-household setting or event within a specified time period.
The City of Saskatoon does not expect an impact to operations as a result of the outbreak and enhanced cleaning and disinfecting has occurred in the impacted areas and equipment.
