Indigenous Services Canada says it is closely monitoring the number of COVID-19 cases reported in First Nations communities across the country. For the second week, newly reported recoveries have continued to exceed newly reported cases. As a result, the number of active cases in First Nations communities has declined to the lowest point since December 6th with 1,869 active cases reported as of February 3rd.
In First Nations communities, as of that date, ISC says it is aware of: 172 deaths. ISC is aware of 320 Indigenous communities with vaccinations underway. ISC says its planning for urban Indigenous vaccination continues to be a priority.
