An alleged impaired driver is in custody after going the wrong way on College Drive on Saturday.

Just after 10 p.m. that night, Saskatoon Police were notified of a driver in the wrong lane, and eventually located the vehicle travelling near police headquarters in the 100 block of 25th Street East

Officers says they attempted a traffic stop at which point the driver failed to stop for police. Police report the driver then drove in the downtown area for several minutes, until officers were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device causing three of the four tires on the vehicle to go flat. The driver then reportedly still managed to drive east bound on 8th St and continued to drive in a reckless manner.

Several Tactical Support Unit members were able to assist patrol with making vehicle contact at 8th St and Moss Ave. The vehicle came to a stop and the driver was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

The driver is facing charges of evade police, dangerous driving, impaired driving by drug, refusal, and breach of statutory release. He will remain in custody until being seen by a Justice of the Peace on Saturday.
