An investigation is underway after a trailer fire in the village of Broderick claimed the lives of an elderly couple. Broderick is about 5 kilometres East of Outlook, and is serviced by the Outlook Fire Department.
Outlook Fire Chief Dalas King confirms they responded to the fire Saturday morning, at around 9:00 a.m. He says the fire was mainly contained in around an hour, but fire crews worked into the afternoon fighting hot spots and providing recovery. King reports they received aid from Conquest Fire to fight the fire and to keep trucks from freezing up while they worked in nearly -40 degree temperatures. He says they had major issues trying to keep trucks flowing water, with ice build up frequent.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated at this time.
