The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation isn’t happy with the Province of Saskatchewan’s updated vaccination roll-out plan for Phase 2 in relation to teachers and school staff.
In fact, S-T-F president Patrick Maze feels the latest vaccination schedule doesn’t make teachers and school staff a priority for receiving doses…something Maze believes is a continuation of what he calls a “disjointed and reactionary” pandemic response in schools by the government. Maze says a better job of managing the COVID-19 response and protecting students and schools if keeping schools open is a priority. To that end, the S-T-F is calling on the province and school boards to, “provide information on how response plans will address new, more contagious variants of COVID-19; gather and make available reliable data on in-school transmission and case rates and implement rapid widespread testing of school communities to improve detection of asymptomatic student.”
