Federal heath officials say 651 Canadians have shown adverse effects after getting their COVID-19 vaccine. That includes any medical event that occurs following immunization . But Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says, these aren’t necessarily related to the vaccine or the immunization process.
Tam says 99 of those, about one in 11 thousand, have been serious, such as a severe allergic reaction. She says all adverse events are subject to review; serious reactions undergo a detailed investigation to determine whether or not they are related to the use of the vaccine.
Meanwhile, Tam says there are 8 provinces now reporting new, more contagious strains of the virus.
Tam was also asked about when quarantine regulations will ease, saying a lot depends on how quickly new variants spread, and how testing progresses.
