SaskPower says it is currently exporting 175 megawatts of electricity south of the international border to provide relief to parts of the United States also under extreme cold conditions and reportedly leaving millions without power.
Kory Hayko, SaskPower Vice-President of Transmission and Industrial Services says SaskPower can help out neighbours in a time of need and still maintain the stability of the power grid in Saskatchewan while continuing to deliver power to the province’s residents.
SaskPower began moving 150 megawatts of electricity Sunday morning and has increased that to 175 MW. The power is being distributed across 60,000 miles of high voltage transmission lines spanning 14 states.
