Both the official opposition and the federal Liberal party have introduced Bills that would legalize single-event sports betting in Canada.
A news release from Saskatoon M.P. Kevin Waugh says the Conservative Private Members’ Bill, Bill C-218, was voted through its second reading on Wednesday.
Waugh is pleased other parties joined Conservatives in the vote.
He says the industry is estimated to be worth about $14-billion in Canada.
The Liberal’s Bill C-13 had its first reading in November of last year, and it too is about legalizing single-event sports betting.
