A group of citizens from the R.M. of Aberdeen is hoping to garner support in an effort to sway SaskTel’s decision to situate a cell tower right near their homes.
Spokesperson for the group, Joy-Ann Allin, says the neighbour who would be right beside the proposed cell tower was notified last September, but no one else was.
She suggests there wasn’t proper consultation and adds that they have had conversations and emails with SaskTel since then, and have taken it to their MLA, Bronwyn Eyre, with no results.
The group also started a petition to have the cell tower moved.
Allin estimates the tower would be about two house lots away from her neighbour’s home, which she suggests may be a safety concern, but adds it’s also about tarnishing the open view with all the wildlife that calls the area home.
She believes there are better locations that could be chosen, including in the same quarter section but just in the opposite diagonal corner, instead of right near their homes.
