Thousands walked across Canada for the Coldest Night of the Year event on the weekend, to bring awareness to homelessness, hunger and those who are hurting.
This was the first year the Saskatoon YWCA hosted the event, which this year became separate walks and runs for the participants because of the safety regulations around COVID-19.
Spokesperson Carla Delgado says 141 people signed up to walk and raise funds.
The Saskatoon YWCA’s goal was $20,00 and the final total was $31,742.
She thanks everyone who donated to the cause.
The YWCA’s crisis shelter gives women and children a place to go when leaving situations that include abuse, addictions, mental health and homelessness.
