Two men and a woman have been charged following an alleged break-in and stand-off on the 11 hundred block of Avenue W North Monday morning, which lasted several hours.
Police received a report of the break and enter just before ten o’clock. It was also reported that there may be firearms inside the apartment. Shortly after officers arrived, four people left the suite without incident. A 33 year old man remained inside and refused to come out. Members of the Tactical Support Unit and the Crisis Negotiation Team attended and tried to communicate with the man for more than four hours. When he continued to refuse to leave, police say they used, what they call, “less-lethal force,” which allowed officers to get inside. Police allege, at that point, the man deployed pepper spray at the officers before being taken into custody. No one hurt.
The man is now facing seven charges including; Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.
A 40 year old man and a 31 year old woman are facing charges of Unlawfully in a Dwelling. The woman is also facing a charge of Breach of Court Conditions.
