Late afternoon Friday, shortly after 5, Yorkton RCMP received reports about an erratic driver heading west leaving Yorkton on Highway 52. The vehicle was reported to have been cutting off other vehicles and driving at oncoming traffic before hitting the ditch which is when two people inside were seen taking off on foot.
While searching for the occupants of the vehicle, RCMP got another call from a nearby home owner who had arrived at their house and noticed two people inside peering out. The home owner stayed outside and called police. The suspects fled while police were en route.
Yorkton RCMP pursued the two suspects by following their tracks in the snow and when those tracks led to a second home, officers spotted two people inside. Yorkton RCMP confirmed with the homeowners they weren’t home and got permission to go inside where they arrested a man and woman. The suspects were taken to hospital to be treated for injuries suffered in the originating incident which was the car hitting the ditch. All three incidents are under investigation.
