Two out of three teens charged in relation the 2019 attempted robbery and homicide of a 15 year-old boy have been sentenced.  In November of 2019 a 15 year-old boy was shot near the ATM area of a credit union in the 2300 block of Arlington Avenue. Two 15 year-old boys and a 17 year-old were arrested, in what was Saskatoon’s 15th homicide that year.

The shooter who is now 16, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in June and was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in intensive rehabilitative youth custody. Taking into account the time already served, he will serve three more years in custody followed by two additional years of community supervision. He also received a lifetime ban on possessing firearms.

One of the youths who is now 18 pleaded guilty to attempted robbery. On Wednesday he was sentenced to two years in secure custody and one year of supervision. He received a firearm ban for 10 years.

A third boy who is now 17, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a decision on that matter is scheduled for March 25th.
