The Saskatchewan Health Authority says over 10,000 appointments were made as of 11 a.m. Friday for seniors 80 years and older arranging their COVID-19 vaccination. This includes the appointments made Thursday.

The SHA says issues experienced yesterday with those trying to call using their cell phone have now been resolved. The province also thanks Saskatchewan residents for not trying to book appointments until eligible because it allow those who are eligible to book more easily.

Just over 80 per cent of appointments were booked online while almost 20 per cent were booked through the phone line.

– In total Thursday and up to Friday at 11 a.m., 10,636 people have booked COVID 19 vaccine appointments.

– 5,616 of those appointments were made Friday

– 8,552 were made online

-2,084 were booked through the phone line

The Health Minister said yesterday there will be around 100 different locations where people can get their vaccination, thus reducing long-distance travel. The new toll free number, 1-833-SASK-VAX (1-833-727-5829), will be staffed 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

To book an appointment using the new online system, you will need a valid health card; and a cell phone number or email address where notifications will be sent. Users who aren’t comfortable with, or don’t have access to technology can book by phone. Family and friends who aren’t yet eligible can also book on behalf of someone who is eligible
