One person has died after an apartment fire on Broadway Avenue.
At 7:05 p.m. Saturday, the Saskatoon Fire Department reports it was called to 2621 Broadway Avenue regarding a call of smoke coming from the ground floor of the three storey building. The first fire engine arrived three minutes later to confirm smoke coming from a suite on the ground level.
Fire crews entered the suite encountering heavy smoke and found a person inside, who did not survive.

The fire was brought under control in just over half an hour. A fire investigator has determined the fire originated in the kitchen of the suite behind the fridge, and was accidental. Fire and smoke damage is estimated at $120,000.
