RCMP say a human skull found at the end of last month in the RM of Morris is not historical in nature but they also haven’t confirmed whether the death is suspicious.

February 28th at 3:20 p.m., Watrous RCMP were called to a report of a human skull being found in a field by people looking for shed-antlers.

An autopsy has determined the individual was likely female and between 25 and 35 years of age. RCMP and Saskatchewan Police services are collaborating and they may take the investigation outside the province to other police agencies. The investigation also includes efforts to make a DNA comparison and consultation with the National DNA Data Bank are underway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Watrous RCMP or Crime Stoppers. RCMP Major Crimes Unit South (MCUS) assumed the lead in the investigation with the assistance of the detachment, Saskatoon RCMP Forensic Identification Section, RCMP Police Dog Services, the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and a forensic anthropologist.
