It’s a single off-day for the Saskatoon Blades in the W-H-L’s East Division “Dubble”…which means I stayed in Regina because it seems silly to drive six hours in one day…to Saskatoon and back (and I won’t drive Highway 11 in the dark…too many animals like deer and moose for my liking!)…just for a few hours of time at home!
So, what to do? I was granted permission to attend the Bridge City Bunch’s practice. It was supposed to start at 1 o’clock, but when I got through the security checkpoint and into the Brandt Centre, I saw the dormant clock (pictured) and not a lot of people on the ice.
Obviously an optional or just for the fourth liners, non Top 4 defencemen and back-up goaltenders…

Head coach Mitch Love, associate coach Ryan Marsh and goaltender coach Jeff Harvey were joined on the ice by goaltenders Koen MacInnes and Ethan Chadwick; defencemen Pavel, “call me Pasha” Bocharov, Marek Schneider, Tanner Molendyk, Spencer Shugrue and Ben Saunderson plus forwards Carter Streek, Josh Paulhus, Braden Plaschewsky, Hayden Smith and Sammy May. The rest would have done some form or working out or stretching under the stands before retreating to the seats to watch…

The Blue and Gold return to action Sunday evening against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Tribe could leap-frog the Blades into first place in the “Dubble” by then as Moose Jaw takes on winless Swift Current Saturday afternoon…a game I have been granted permission to attend! No more than six media members are allowed to be in attendance at the Brandt Centre for any one individual game.
Saskatoon is the only team to have yet to lose in regulation time through four games…a 3-0-1 record. Game time Sunday is 8 o’clock with the broadcast starting at 7:30 with the Sardinia Family Restaurant pre-game show on 98-COOL.

Above is the building where all the “Dubble” games are happening. The picture is taken from the East parking lot at the Brandt Centre. Then, I turned around and took this picture…

That is Mosaic Stadium, the home of the C-F-L’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. Will there be football played there in 2021? I sure hope so! Have a great day!!
