The Canadian Federation of Independent Business wants the tax deadline extended for small businesses after a welcome extension to the CEBA, or the Canada Emergency Business Account, deadline.
Sixty-three per cent of businesses surveyed said tax deferrals would be helpful to them. The CFIB says tax season always places a heavy administrative burden on small businesses and points out that the U.S. has already moved to extend some tax filing deadlines so if Canada does the same it would give many small businesses the booth needed to get through the next few months.
CFIB is asking for an extension to the tax filing deadlines and delay in GST/HST remittance until at least fall of 2021.
