At first glance at the standings, the Saskatoon Blades appear destined to equal the all-time franchise record for best start to a season through seven games.

       The 5-0-1 Bridge City Bunch battle the last place Swift Current Broncos Wednesday night at 8 o’clock in the W-H-L’s East Division “Dubble” in Regina. A victory for the Blue and Gold would extend their first place log to 6-0-1…which would be the same as the 1985-86 edition of the Blades…though the “one” in that Saskatoon team’s record was a tie as opposed to an overtime loss this time around. Not only is Speedy Creek just 1-5-0 to start the “Dubble”, but the Bridge City Bunch have won the last seven head-to-head meetings with the Broncos, including a 4-2 decision in the first game of the “Dubble” between the two long-time rivals on March 13. However, Swift Current is coming off a 5-2 victory over Prince Albert on Monday, so this match-up would go down as a classic “trap” game for the Blue and Gold.
