The spring session of the Saskatchewan Legislature is set to begin April 6th, but the NDP House Leader isn’t sure what it will look like, considering the rise in cases of the COVID-19 variants, and everyone being told not to travel to Regina.
Vicki Mowat says talks are underway with the government and it is a safety concern.
The NDP has suggested looking at virtual options, but there has been no agreement yet on what the rules of the Legislature will be.
Mowat says the role of the opposition is to hold the government accountable, so it’s important to still have the opportunity in the Legislature to do so, but in a safe manner.
The annual budget will be tabled on the first day of the spring sitting.
