There will be a virtual tribute today on the third anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

On April 6th, 2018, 16 people died and 13 were injured when a semi trailer hauling bales of peat moss ran a stop sign and collided with the junior hockey team bus. The Broncos were on their way to a playoff game with the Nipawin Hawks.

The accident happened near Tisdale and it was announced yesterday that a national capital fundraising campaign is getting underway to help build a roadside memorial at the site of the crash. The funds will also go towards constructing a tribute centre that would include an exhibit gallery along with an ice surface and training and fitness facilities to support the junior hockey team and the community.

The tribute today (tues) is being live streamed on the City of Humboldt’s Facebook page at 4:30 p.m. and the service will be followed by a moment of silence at 4:50 p.m. which is the approximate time the crash occurred.
