Prairie Harm Reduction says it is disappointed that the Government of Saskatchewan has decided not to fund Safe Consumption Services in Saskatchewan.

PHR says that is despite the government’s own internal reporting that the service saves lives, saves money and doesn’t have adverse affects on crime rates.

Prairie Harm Reduction also says the only thing an upcoming awareness campaign around the addiction’s crisis will be able to do is inform Saskatchewan residents that hundreds of people will have died due to overdoses.

The organization says they were informed by the Minister responsible that the province is announcing three mobile harm reduction vans that will offer needle exchange services and potentially drug testing in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert where mobile needle exchange already exist.
