Saskatchewan Highway Patrol pulled over a transport truck for a commercial vehicle safety inspection traffic stop near Caronport and says they found illegal cannabis. While conducting the traffic stop officers say they noticed another vehicle continuously driving by the transport truck. That vehicle was intercepted as well. The driver of the transport truck was arrested for possession of illegal cannabis while a driver and passenger in the second vehicle who allegedly had a significant amount of Canadian currency were also arrested.
The RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit assisted with the execution of a search warrant on the vehicles and say they seized 1,814 kilograms, or 4,000 pounds, of illegal Cannabis, and a significant amount of Canadian currency.
Harpeet Malhi, 40 years old; Ramandeep Singh, 21 years old; Mehakdeep Maan, 23 years old all of Brampton, Ontario are facing multiple drug charges including Unlawful Possession of more than 30 grams of dried Cannabis, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis in a Public place, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distribution, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose to Sell. Mehakdeep Maan is also charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. The three accused are back in Moose Jaw Provincial court on Wednesday.
