Saskatchewan’s official opposition is calling on the province to take “needed steps” to protect front line workers from the third wave of COVID-19.

Today (tues), NDP Leader Ryan Meili joined front line worker Matthew Cardinal, who survived COVID, to announce what actions they’d like to see taken by the SaskParty government.

The New Democrats would like to see the province develop a plan to prioritize all front line workers who are working in vulnerable, high-volume workplaces as well as mobilize supports in the areas of health care, mental health, education, employment and training for those recovering from the disease and their families to help navigate their negative experiences brought on by the coronavirus.

Meili said “It’s easy to get lost in the numbers and daily press releases but there are real people and real families behind those numbers.”

The NDP’s call for action comes on a day when the province announced 288 new infections, 280 recoveries and two new deaths.
