The President of the Saskatoon Minor Softball League says the League is deeply disturbed to learn of the sexual assault of a minor charges against coach Rick Davis and he has been suspended. Vanessa Kosteroski says they will fully co-operate with the investigation and she encourages anyone with more information to contact the police.

The 56 year old was charged after police received a report in January that a man had allegedly sexually assaulted a minor on numerous occasions between February of 2012 and December of 2017. At the time of the alleged assaults, the child would have been between the ages of 5 and 9.

Kosteroski says safety of Saskatoon Hustlers Fastball and the SMSL League participants is of utmost importance to their organizations. They have reached out to parents and players who were to be coached by Davis this summer to update them on plans and to address any questions.

Rick Davis was released after appearing in court on Monday and is scheduled back on April 29th. His release conditions include not being around anyone under 16 unless with an adult approved by his bail supervisor, and he can’t be in a position of trust or authority including coaching anyone under 16, and cannot attend parks, playgrounds and pools.

Investigators are concerned there may be other victims in the community and are urging anyone with information to contact Saskatoon Police Service.
