Saskatchewan’s NDP is upset with the province’s COVID-19 strategy saying that the provincial government has to held accountable.
In a news release, health critic Vicki Mowat called on the Scott Moe government “to do the right thing and to take responsibility for its failed COVID-19 strategy”.
This is in response to when Health Minister Paul Merriman was asked during Tuesday’s update on whether or not it was a mistake to relax restrictions prior to Easter.
Merriman stated that the decision was made at the time with what they had and that the government was confident that the public would comply.
The health minister also added that the variants have thrown a curveball for everyone.
Mowat says Merriman is “rewriting history” as the SHA warned against loosening public health measures.
She notes that the SaskParty government has ignored multiple measures suggested by the NDP including a three-week circuit breaker in November to fight the second wave.
