Another game in the W-H-L’s East Division Hub and an individual player had Saskatoon Blades’ observers scurrying for the record books!
Defenceman Rhett Rhinehart (pictured) recorded a hat-trick, the first Bridge City Bunch D-Man to score at least three goals in a single game since Darren Dietz tallied four times in a February, 2012 Blue and Gold victory over Swift Current. The big offensive effort by the 19-year-old Lloydminster product boosted the Blades to a 4-1 triumph Thursday over the Regina Pats. It was Saskatoon’s fifth straight win and improved their Hub record to 14-2-2, good for first place. Rhinehart now has four goals for the season. Kyle Crnkovic added an empty net goal for the Bridge City Bunch, who out-shot the 6-9-3 Queen City Kids 35-21. The only downside for Rhinehart in the game was that the Regina goal went in off his skate…a rebound of a Logan Nijhoff shot that skipped past Koen MacInnes early in the second period. The Blue and Gold return to action Saturday at 8 o’clock for their fourth and final meeting with the Swift Current Broncos. Following is the official game summary from the W-H-L…
