There were two COVID-19 related deaths reported—a person between the ages of 40 and 49 in the Central East zone and the other was over the age of 80 in the North West Zone.

In addition, the Ministry of Health reports there will be a reduction in the April 26th Moderna vaccine shipment. Saskatchewan’s allocation is being reduced by 47 per cent, from 35,800 doses to 18,800 doses. There could be a potential impact on booked appointments and the pharmacy vaccination pilot project. The Ministry of Health says there will be an update in the coming days.

There are 249 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Saturday.  Regina reported the highest number at 73 and Saskatoon was next with 56 new cases. The remainder come from the South East (29), South West (18), North West (14), Central West (12), North Central (10),  Central East (8), South Central (8), North East (7), Far North West (3) and Far North East (3). Eight new cases have pending residence information.

Another 203 Variants of Concern were identified.  Regina continues to have the most with 61 new VOC’s followed by Saskatoon (39). The total number of VOC’s identified by screening stands at 4,529.

One hundred and ninety two (192) people are in hospital, including 47 in the intensive care unit. Regina has 31 ICU patients and Saskatoon reports 10 people in ICU.

An additional 10,490 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, bringing the total number to 334,063.

There were 3,643 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Friday.
