When it comes to controlling their first place destiny in the W-H-L’s East Division “Dubble,” the Saskatoon Blades frittered away their wiggle room with Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to the Pats in Regina.
Overage forward Carson Denomie snapped a 2-2 tie with 2:36 remaining in the second period and the Bridge City Bunch couldn’t manage a third period comeback to fall to 14-3-3 for 31 points, one back of Brandon for top spot. For the Queen City Kids, the win made up for three previous losses in the “Dubble” to the Blue and Gold and six consecutive head-to-head setbacks dating back to February, 2020.
Caiden Daley and Brandon Lisowsky scored for Saskatoon, who were without forwards Tristen Robins and Colton Dach plus defenceman Aidan De La Gorgendiere for a second straight game. De La Gorgendiere has left the Regina “Hub” for treatment of an Upper Body injury while Robins and Dach are both said to be “day-to-day” with their hurts.
