Stabbing with Serious Injuries
La Ronge RCMP say a man and woman were flown to Saskatoon hospital after being stabbed on the Lac La Ronge First Nation. The call came in on Saturday at 12:30 a.m. A suspect was located late that same day. The accused is described a male youth who has been arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
Fatal Hit and Run
A 13 year old boy has been killed in a hit and run on the Onion Lake Cree Nation. RCMP say they got a call on Sunday that the teen, who had been driving a dirt bike, was hit by a vehicle in front of a home in the community. The boy was pronounced deceased at the scene and the vehicle which failed to remain at the accident was tracked down at a home on the Cree Nation. Courtney Cook, a 28 year old man from Onion Lake Cree Nation, is charged with Failure to stop after accident causing death and two counts of operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.
Suspicious Package Regina
A suspicious package in Regina has been destroyed and Regina Police are opening up the area to traffic once again. For about four hours Monday motorists were being asked to stay away from the 900 block of Victoria Avenue where emergency services were on the scene of a suspicious package. Police evacuated people from businesses while area residents were contacted and asked to stay inside. The call came in around 10 a.m. Monday morning of a suspicious object behind a business. The Explosives Disposal Unit destroyed the package and Regina Police say the investigation will continue to determine exactly what the package contained and how it came to be in that location.
Speeding on Highway 11
Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services clocked a vehicle doing 158 kilometres an hour in a 110 km/h zone on Highway 11 about 10 kilometres north of Bethune and when they pulled the vehicle over they then arrested a 22 year old man for impaired driving. This was around 1 in the afternoon last Wednesday. Open liquor was also seized. A 22 year old man has been given a $304 ticket for speeding, a $360 ticket for Possessing Beverage Alcohol in a Vehicle, had his driver’s license suspended indefinitely and his vehicle impounded for 60 days.
