Congratulations almost seems like an understatement, doesn’t it?
After years of putting her blood, sweat and tears into her craft. A move to Nashville, countless awards, multiple performances on The Bachelor and even singing the Canadian national anthem during the NBA Finals (which, coincidently, led to Canada’s only team winning their first ever championship). The pride of Weyburn Saskatchewan broke another record on the final weekend in April, 2021. She became the first artist in the history of our province to go #1 on US country radio. From April 18th-25th, her single “Somebody Like That” streamed over the airwaves in the US of A more than any any other artist. Keith Urban? Nah. Carrie Underwood? Nope. Blake Shelton? Not this week fella. This week belonged to Tenille, and we couldn’t be more proud.
No longer will Weyburn solely be famous for having the last remaining All-You-Can-Eat KFC Buffet (which, let’s be honest, is still a fantastic thing to be famous for), as the town now has a new distinction… the birthplace of the first ever Saskatchewan musician to top the charts at American country radio.
Best part? She’s just getting started.
