Researchers are using the Canadian Light Source and VIDO, the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, at the University of Saskatchewan to study possible long term effects from COVID-19.

They are studying the effects the virus has on blood vessels and are hoping to find out if those who have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus may be at risk for other health complications later on.

Dr. Jake Pushie says they want to find out what else the virus is doing in the body that could put people at risk for things like stroke, heart disease and other major complications that may not arise for twenty to thirty years as people start to age.

Team members include researchers from the University of Saskatchewan, Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and the University of Manitoba.
