The eligibility age for COVID-19 vaccines will lower twice this week. First, as of Wednesday, the eligible age for vaccines lowers from 44 to 42 and older, and anyone 30 and older in the Northern Saskatchewan Administrative District and then on Friday, the age lowers to 40, and includes as well all eligible workers who have been identified as a priority.
The province lists in this group police, firefighters, volunteer firefighters, public health inspectors, teachers and educational staff working with students, and all previously identified frontline health care workers. Appointments for priority workers need to be made by phone, and you will need proof of employment on the day of your vaccination. The phone number for appointments is 1-833-SaskVax (1-833-727-5829).
Vaccination appointments for newly eligible age categories can be booked online at www.Saskatchewan.ca/covid19 and if you don’t have a cell phone or email account, you can book by phone.
Appointments may also be booked at participating pharmacies. You can find the list of pharmacies that are in this pilot project here: Vaccination Pilot Pharmacies It’s expected some pharmacies will begin vaccinations by Friday and all are by appointment only. You book by calling the pharmacy, not the vaccination line.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority says about 10,000 appointments are being added to the Patient Booking System, and you can start booking at 8 a.m. Wednesday. As additional vaccine supplies arrive, drive-through and walk-in clinics will be added to the roster.
