CAA Saskatchewan has named its ten worst roads in the province. Two Saskatoon roads made the list including 20th Street West and 52nd Street East.
Top honours, dubious as they may be, went to Highway 4 through Dorintosh, 8th Avenue North in Regina and Highway 9 at Hudson Bay.
CAA says Saskatchewan has over 228,000 kilometres of roads, more than any other province. The CAA Worst Roads campaign invites Saskatchewan motorists to nominate and vote for the worst roads they have travelled on.
CAA’s recent Cost of Poor Roads in Canada study determined that Canadian drivers pay an average of $112 per vehicle per year in higher vehicle operating costs because of driving on poor-quality roads. The extra cost because of driving on poor roads is higher in Quebec and Atlantic Canada to the tune of $200 per year. But it is less in Western Canada and the cost to drivers in Saskatchewan averages around $97.00.
