It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
So, Canada has a 1-and-4 record at the World Women’s Curling Championship and are in danger of missing the playoffs. I know this isn’t the issue, but it is a pet peeve of mine and one I want to blame as a distraction…but, if I’m Kerri Einarson and her team, there is no more waving at the T-S-N cameras and hamming it up for family and friends back home until the team is back in a playoff spot! Focus, because the losing and being in a double-digits place in the standings is an embarrassment to Canadian curling!
On the other hand, how about them Blue Jays?! I’m still not a fan of swinging for the fences as the exclusive way of producing offence, but the Jays did an outstanding job with that over the weekend in a three-game sweep of Atlanta. The question remains…is that sustainable long-term? And, secondarily, is it sustainable for the short term on a West Coast road trip and, possibly again, without George Springer in the line-up?!
Interesting scheduling for the N-H-L over the last few days…four games back on Friday, everybody except Winnipeg was in action Saturday, only Tampa Bay at Detroit collided yesterday and today there are 14 games with just Calgary, the Lightning and Red Wings on the sidelines! That’s almost like old school N-H-L where teams rarely played on Monday and/or Thursday…stuffing three or four games into the rest of the week! I wonder if they’ll do the same with the playoffs? Nah!!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…..
