Some of Saskatchewan’s excess supply of ventilators will be sent to help combat rising critical novel coronavirus cases.
The provincial government announced Monday that 100 ventilators are being sent to India to help that country with their major surge and the highest active COVID-19 case count anywhere and at anytime in the world during the global pandemic.
Of the 100 ventilators being shipped to India by Saskatchewan are 30 critical care and 70 subacute units. Saskatchewan’s current supply is over 700 critical care, subacute and non-invasive ventilators.
The provincial government will work with Saskatchewan trade officials and India’s embassy in Canada to ship the ventilators in a timely and secure manner while continuing to work with other provincial partners to offer more assistance to India.
