Canada Post wants to keep its employees safe and so, is asking for some help from dog owners. About 36 per cent of the households they deliver to have dogs. The post office says it’s impossible for delivery agents to know how any dog will react when they approach a home. Dog incidents can range from encounters with threatening dogs to being attacked and bitten.
Dog owners are asked not to open the door during deliveries or allow your dog to approach employees while they are out in the community. One suggestion is to keep dogs in another room at the time of the delivery. Canada Post also asks that dog owners prevent their animals from roaming freely in the neighbourhood.
The post office also asks customers to keep a two-metre distance from delivery agents when you see them.
