The Government of Saskatchewan has launched its roadmap to reopen the province. And the plan is based on immunization rates.

Government officials expect all residents in Saskatchewan over the age of 18 will have a chance to receive their first dose of vaccine by the end of this month and it will roll out in three stages with an estimated three weeks between each step.  Saskatchewan’s Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab says May and June are going to be block buster months for vaccination supply and he posed the question, “How can we say no to this privilege when it will lend itself to a better summer and fall?”

Step one is 70 per cent of people age 40 and older have received their first vaccine dose. Right now the government says 65 per cent of Saskatchewan residents 40 and older are vaccinated with their first dose. Step two is 70 per cent of people age 30 and older have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and the final step is 70 per cent of people age 18 and older have received their first dose of vaccine.  Premier Scott Moe says they expect to enact Step 1 some time in last week of May; Step 2 in the third week of June and Step 3 in mid July.   By step three the government says three most remaining restrictions will be lifted.
