SaskTel says it is seeing record data usage across its network as we approach Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day has always been the busiest day of the year for placing voice calls. But SaskTel says, over the past few years, the trend has shifted away from voice calls, and more towards applications that use data.
Don Morgan, Minister Responsible for SaskTel says, “SaskTel’s extension of waiving wireless data overages for its customers will allow you to video call as long as possible without the worry of going over your data cap”.

Year over year, comparing April 2020 to April 2021, SaskTel has seen wireless data downloads increase by 38% and data usage on our fusion Internet network has increased by 7%.

SaskTel recently broke an all-time data record for wireless data downloads at 220.29 terabytes (TB) for a single day. To put this into perspective, using 1 TB of data would be equivalent to sending and receiving 40,000 emails, streaming 8,500 hours of music, surfing the internet for 2,000 hours, streaming HD video for 350 hours and gaming online for 1,650 hours!
