A 17 year old boy is facing charges after police allege he was speeding Friday morning.
Around 12:30, officers tried to stop a vehicle around McOrmond Drive and Stensrud Road. Police say the vehicle was travelling at 115 km/hr in a 60 zone. According to police, the vehicle refused to stop and was being driven erratically. The vehicle allegedly reached speeds of 168km/hr in a 50 zone on Brighton Boulevard before ending up driving through a field. The Air Support Unit watched as the driver abandoned the vehicle on the 200 block of Stilling Union. A canine Unit found the driver hiding in a yard. He was taken to hospital for treatment of dog bites.
The vehicle was stolen.
The boy is charged with Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000, and breach of court orders.
