Two people were arrested outside the city Tuesday in a combined effort by the Saskatoon Police Guns and Gangs, Tactical Support, Air Support, and Canine units, along with RCMP and Corman Park Police Service.

Investigators with Guns and Gangs saw two people involved in activity which they felt was consistent with drug trafficking. The suspects made frequent stops around Saskatoon. At about 3:30 p.m., Police tried to conduct a traffic stop near Circle Drive and Valley Road but the driver refused to stop. Air Support watched as they travelled down grid roads south of the city. At one point, they allegedly discarded a loaded shotgun and rifle from the vehicle, which were later seized by Police.

The suspects abandoned the vehicle in Vanscoy, and allegedly tried to hide in a backyard. Air Support guided ground units to the suspects who were taken into custody. Police allege the pair were found in possession of cash, cell phones and prepackaged cocaine.

A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman are facing a combined 28 charges including firearms-related offences, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of the Proceeds of Crime Under $5000, Evade Police, Dangerous Driving and Breach of Release.
