53 year old Bernie Herman, a Prince Albert RCMP officer, has been arrested by Prince Albert Police in connection with the death of 26 year old Braden Herman – no relation.
Early Tuesday evening, police responded to a report of a deceased man in a wooded area within the city of Prince Albert. The arrested RCMP officer was not on duty at the time of the incident.
Police say they have also secured a vehicle and a residence in the 33 hundred block of Dent Crescent in the city as part of the investigation.
RCMP have confirmed that Bernie Herman is a corporal with 32 years’ service and was serving with the Prince Albert RCMP Traffic Services Unit when the arrest occurred.
An independent observer has been requested to oversee the investigation.
The accused makes his first appearance in Provincial Court Thursday charged with First Degree Murder.
