Prairieland Park is hoping to host a modified version of the Saskatoon EX this summer, but much like some of the midway rides, it’s all up in the air.
Special Events Manager, Susan Kuzma, says last year because of the pandemic, all they were able to do was a drive-through food fair, to give everyone a little taste of the EX.
This year,Prairieland Park is working on a smaller, outdoor fair with free entertainment, the traditional EX foods, and a midway.
Kuzma explains that the midway is dependent on whether the operator could cross the border into Canada, and then whether dates would match up with other cities.
Along with fewer people and plenty of sanitizing, Kuzma says they are looking at purchasing sanitizing fog machines that can do large areas.
They are also considering touchless, online ticket sales for specific times of the day you would be attending the EX, to control the number of people in the park at any one time.
The plan is to have the EX August 10th to the 15th, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Kuzma says Prairieland Park has seen a 90 per cent reduction in its overall operations because of the pandemic.
Net profits were down by over 80 per cent and the projected losses for this year are over $2-million.
