The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs says it is gravely concerned by the wave of violence and antisemitism impacting communities across Canada, which is connected to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The Centre says it condemns in the strongest terms acts of assault, intimidation, and hate targeting members of Canada’s Jewish community and supporters of Israel. The Centre says there is absolutely no justification for political violence of any kind in our streets.

The Centre says, “Those who hate Israel so much that it inspires them to egg, spit on, or assault their fellow Canadians aren’t just a threat to Jews. They threaten the very fabric of Canadian society.”

The Centre is calling on people to condemn these acts and stand with them against antisemitism and all forms of bigotry.

Anti-Semitic violence in Toronto has reached a point that Toronto’s Mayor sent out a tweet that hate, anti-Semitism and violence have no place in that city. He says, “Any violence against our city’s Jewish community or members of any other community in Toronto is absolutely unacceptable.” John Tory says he has seen a particularly disturbing incident on video and has asked the Chief of Police to investigate this and any other examples of unacceptable violence and hatred.
