Environment Canada has confirmed a tornado near Saskatoon last week. The national weather forecast says they received multiple reports and photos but there were no reports of damage from the tornado which touch down 10 kilometres north of Saskatoon at approximately 12:25 p.m. on May 12th. The tornado was brief, it is considered a landspout tornado and has been given a preliminary rating of EF0.
Meanwhile, 20 daytime high records were beat or tied on Monday May 17th in Saskatchewan including the province’s two largest cities. In Saskatoon the mercury topped out at 32 degrees breaking a record set in 1901 and for Regina, the province’s capital tied a record set in 2010 when the daytime high reached 31.7 degrees Celsius.
