Dancing Sky Theatre in Meacham figured out a way last year to continue live performances by moving outdoors to a newly built amphitheatre, and now Fireside Stories II begins on Thursday. Saskatoon actor, Kent Allen, says each artist or group has a different story to tell.
His story comes from his dad, who wrote about his experience growing up in the Prairies in the Dirty Thirties. Allen’s dad never told the family about his experiences, but decided to write it down back in the 1980s.
Allen says, “For Prairie people in terms of the 1930’s, there is a shared experience for many, and so telling it now during these difficult times, I think is terribly appropriate.”
He believes the story is a reminder that we face challenges constantly, not just at this particular time in history with the pandemic. The outdoor theatre experience from Dancing Sky Theatre runs Thursday through June 6th.
