SaskPower says more than 20,000 customers have signed up for its Residential Smart Meter Pilot Program.

A news release from the crown corporation says more than 2000 smart meters have been fitted on homes throughout the province, but meters are slower to arrive than expected due to global supply issues and microchip shortages.

SaskPower says it is working to ensure everyone who has signed up for a smart meter will get one.
