Rush General Manager Derek Keenan announced the signing today. Currier was traded to the Rush last July but has yet to suit up with his new teammates with the 2020-21 NLL season being cancelled due to the pandemic. The four-year veteran forward came to the Rush along with first-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 NLL Entry Drafts in exchange for Ben McIntosh, two second-round picks in the 2020 Entry Draft, and a conditional second-round pick in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft. The Rush used the 2020 first-rounder to select Marshall Powless seventh overall.

I’m really looking forward to seeing him perform with his new teammates at SaskTel Centre this coming season.”

The 5-foot-11, 164-pounder notched 62 points, including 34 goals, in 2019 with the Philadelphia Wings, who had picked him seventh overall in the 2019 NLL Expansion Draft from Rochester. The Knighthawks saw Currier breakout in 2018, particularly in the playoffs as he notched 10 goals and added five assists for 15 points in five games. Nine of Currier’s playoff goals came in the best-of-three Final against the Rush, including four in both Game 2 and the series-deciding Game 3, which the Rush won on their home turf to claim a third league title.

Currier scored 17 goals and added 18 assists for 35 points in 14 games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. He spent the 2020 summer season with the PLL’s Archers LC and scored six goals in six games.

Currier was selected sixth overall by Rochester in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft out of Virginia Wesleyan University where he was the school’s all-time leading scorer. His selection was the highest-ever by an NLL team from Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools. The native of Peterborough, Ontario, collected 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points in his first season with Rochester, earning himself a spot on the NLL’s All-Rookie Team for 2017.
