Federal officials have updated efforts to get COVID-19 vaccine into the arms of Canadians.

Brigadier-General Krista Brodie, who heads the country’s vaccine distribution efforts, says when it comes to shipments of the Moderna vaccine, 7 million doses are expected by the end of the month.

She says shipments of Pfizer vaccines are also ramping up.

Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the number of people being infected, being treated in hospital and dying are down, while the number of those being vaccinated is up.
She says the number of Indigenous people getting their shots is also up.

She also says less than 800 people are being treated in intensive care units nation-wide, and the number of daily deaths are down 40% from the peak.
