Saskatchewan Roughriders’ 2021 season tickets are now available…as well as for the M-V-P Plan, multi-season ticket package…in the wake of the C-F-L releasing their 2021 schedule Tuesday morning.
A re-match of the 107th Grey Cup will kick off the season with 2019, essentially defending, champion Winnipeg hosting Hamilton on Thursday, August 5 to start Week 1 of the 14-game schedule.
The Green and White will play the next night at Mosaic Stadium against B-C. In fact, the Riders will play their first four games at home because of the province’s smallish COVID-19 active case and hospitalization numbers, as well as the large number of first vaccinations, which is on the verge of activating Step 3 of the government’s Re-Opening Road Map. That would lift all public health restrictions, including no limit on public gathering sizes and mask-wearing not being mandatory in public. Following their August 6 opener against B-C, Saskatchewan will host the Tiger-Cats on Saturday, the 14, Ottawa on the 21, have a Week 4 bye, then welcome the Blue Bombers to Mosaic Stadium for the annual Labour Day Weekend Classic on Sunday, September 5. In all, the Roughriders will play three home games on Friday nights, three games on Saturday evenings plus the one Sunday, 4 p.m. kickoff.
Meanwhile, the Green and White announced a significant linebacker signing ahead of training camp, which is expected to open July 10 in Regina. Former Edmonton all-star and N-F-L performer Deon Lacey has inked a deal with the Riders. The 6’2″, 229-pound import and West Alabama grad played three seasons for Edmonton between 2014 and 16. He was a West all-star in his first year and a member of that franchise’s Grey Cup championship squad in his second campaign. In 2017, Lacey moved down to Miami. He played 53 N-F-L games over four years, between 2017 and 2020, for the Dolphins and Buffalo, making 21 tackles.

RIDERS SIGN LINEBACKER DEON LACEY
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American linebacker Deon Lacey.
Lacey (6’2 – 229) joins the Riders after spending four seasons in the NFL (2017-2020) with the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Over that time, he played in 53 regular season games and made 21 tackles. Lacey’s NFL career initially started in 2013 when he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. He suited up in three preseason games and recorded five tackles.
In February 2014, Lacey signed with the Edmonton Elks and made an immediate impact, playing in 54 games over three seasons and recording 114 defensive tackles, 68 special teams tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles, three interceptions and one touchdown. Lacey was named a CFL West All-Star in 2014 and helped the Elks win the Grey Cup in 2015. After the 2016 season, Lacey worked out for several NFL teams before signing with the Miami Dolphins in January.
Collegiately, Lacey spent four seasons at West Alabama. In his best season in 2011, he was named the Gulf Conference Defensive Player of the Year and to four All-American teams after collecting 97 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, four sacks, two interceptions, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery. He finished his college career with 267 tackles, nine sacks, six forced fumbles and five interceptions.
